Summary

The objective of the course is to provide comprehensive training towards Level 1 certification as per the recommendation of SCCT best practice guidance and standards for performing Cardiac CT, geared towards medical professionals such as radiologists and cardiologists.

It is a 2.5-day course where the components covered include: learning and familiarity with patient and scanner setup, contrast injection techniques, image acquisition and reconstruction, and post processing and interpretation.

A total of 50 cases will be reviewed. Each participant will have their own workstation.

After taking the course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency related to scanning procedures including scanner set up, patient preparation, indications and procedures for contrast use, image acquisition, and image reconstruction
  • List the current capabilities and limitations of cardiac CT, and understand how its limitations may influence image quality and interpretability and how they should guide patient selection
  • Account for artifacts and arrhythmias
  • Identify artifacts in cardiac CT images, and distinguish these from true pathology
  • Describe and apply techniques for optimizing data acquisition in cardiac CT, and how to avoid common pitfalls and mistakes
  • Correlate findings with cardiac catheterization.
  • Identify a variety of forms of cardiac and coronary pathology, commonly encountered in routine clinical practice, by the method of cardiac CT including cardiomyopathies and congenital heart disease.
  • Understand the role of CT in the assessment of cardiac tumors and pericardial disease

Additionally, this course can be combined together with Level 2 Cardiac CTA Certified Course to obtain Level 1 & 2 accreditation. Special discount given for early bird registration.
