
Pitfalls of NIV: causes and remedies
Non-invasive ventilation is standard therapy in the management of both hypoxemic and hypercapnic respiratory failure of various causes. NIV clinical application has increased over the past 2 decades. In comparison with conventional invasive mechanical ventilation, NIV has the advantages of reducing patient discomfort, procedural complications, and mortality.
